A WALK IN THE DARKNESS

By JON LAND

Based upon his novel

SYNOPSIS

What if the greatest event in human history never happened?

That's the question facing the unlikely team of Palestinian-American detective Ben Kamal and his Israeli counterpart Danielle Barnea, as they investigate the murders of a dozen American archaeologists in Israels Judean Desert.  A mismatched pair, Ben and Danielle struggle to put the cultural divisiveness between their respective peoples aside as they embark on a trail that stretches back more than half a century to another team of archaeologists who were slaughtered in Turkey in identical fashion.

The motive lies in an ancient manuscript which may contain startling proof that Christ didn't die on the cross and the Resurrection, the very foundation of Christianity, never happened.  A secret certainly worth protecting and that's exactly what a ruthless Vatican official has been doing with the help of a secret team of assassins.

Now the ancient manuscript is missing again and the race is on to find it.  For Ben and Danielle to succeed, though, they must first learn to trust each other because ultimately they will find themselves isolated against this powerful and resourceful enemy.  Along the trail, they find little is as it appears to be, sorting through the secrets and subterfuge en route to an altogether shocking discovery. To fall in love, first they're going to have to stay alive and that means thwarting the Vatican's efforts to destroy both the manuscript and anyone who knows of its existence.

Set amidst a backdrop of the oldest places on earth, A Walk in the Darkness offers both a complex mystery and a sensitive love story between two people whose refusal to be mired in the morass of their cultures allows them to save themselves and preserve history.
